ABOUT US
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) is the sole distributor of electricity in the British Virgin Islands. The Government of the British Virgin Islands is the sole shareholder of BVIEC which is established as a statutory Board under the Ministry of Communication and Works. Serving approximately 12,645 customers, the company meets the territory's peak demand of 26 Mw from eleven (11) of its own fired generators with an installed capacity of approximately 39 Mw. The Company employs a staff of 163 employees. The islands which are currently within the Corporation area of service are Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Beef Island, Frenchman's Cay, Little Thatch, Scrub Island, Saba Rock, Buck Island and Anegada. The electrical demands of the first eleven (11) islands are met from power stations on the island of Tortola, at long Bush and Pockwood pond. The electrical demand of the Twelfth (12th) island Anegada, is met by a small Power station on that island.
